How is photovoltaic glass produced?
Many people have a certain understanding of the production process of crystalline silicon modules, but they are unfamiliar with the production process of photovoltaic power generation glass with beautiful color and customizable pattern, shape and light transmittance.
Photovoltaic power-generating glass uses 3.2mm-thick glass on the front and back, with a cadmium telluride photovoltaic film between the two sheets. It is encapsulated with a PVB interlayer that provides transparency, resistance to heat, cold, and moisture, and high mechanical strength.
The glass used for photovoltaic power generation is not ordinary glass, but ITO conductive glass.
ITO conductive glass obtains its electrical conductivity from a conductive film deposited on the glass surface. Ultra-white glass used in photovoltaic glazing also offers a lower spontaneous-breakage rate, high visible-light transmittance, and good optical clarity.
A multistage vacuum-coating process deposits a cadmium telluride photovoltaic film only 20 microns thick onto conductive glass. Laser cutting then divides the film into more than 100 narrow solar cells, which are integrated into a larger solar cell.
Finally, the rear glass is used to encapsulate the assembly, and the lead wiring and junction box are installed. This completes the cadmium telluride photovoltaic glass unit.
